Vancity Carbon Offset program
The Vancity Carbon Offset program invests in local solutions to climate change, builds local knowledge about reducing emissions and creates local sources of high-quality carbon offsets. Vancity will use some of the offsets generated by this program to fulfill our commitment to become carbon neutral by 2010. The program is the first of its kind in Canada and was designed in consultation with the David Suzuki Foundation, Ecotrust Canada, the Pembina Institute and The Natural Step.
The Vancity Carbon Offset program accepts applications from Canadian not-for-profit and cooperative organizations engaging in renewable energy or energy efficiency projects. Each year, the program provides up to $100,000 to qualified projects. Read the Vancity Carbon Offset program guidelines and criteria.
how to apply
step one: Inquire
Complete and send us an inquiry form (Word Document - 188KB) to see if your project meets the program's basic criteria. We’ll review and respond to your inquiry within three weeks.
step two: Apply
If your project meets the program's basic criteria, we'll send you an application form. As part of the application, you'll work directly with a Vancity-approved project assessor to calculate the expected greenhouse gas emission reductions from your project.
